Deer Creek is located in eastern Ottertail County at the intersection of Highway 29, Highway 106 and County 50. The village of Deer Creek was on the branch line of the Northern Pacific Railroad running between Fergus Falls and Wadena. Deer Creek once offered a bank, hotel, creamery, flour-mill, brick plant, grain elevator and weekly newspaper.

Today Deer Creek offers Deer Creek Oil, Deer Creek Express Gas & Convenience, local restaurant Brewski's Kitchen, Wadena State Bank of Deer Creek, United Methodist Church and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Schools: Wadena Deer Creek Public School District #2155. WDS provides Pre-School through Grade 6 at Wadena-Deer Creek Elementary and Grades 7-12 at Wadena-Deer Creek High School, plus many extracurricular activities. East Leaf Lake is 404 acres. There is a Public Access off County 67 on the east shore. Fish for Northern Pike, Bluegill, Walleye, Crappie and Large Mouth Bass.

Middle Leaf Lake is 398 acres. Fish for Northern Pike, Bluegill, Crappie, Walleye, Largemouth and Rock Bass.

West Leaf Lake is 684 acres. There is a Public Access off State Hwy 108 along the NE shore. Fish for Walleye, Northern Pike, Bluegill, Large Mouth Bass, Crappie and Rock Bass.
