"On the Pembina Trail" Alexander Erhardt homesteaded in this area. People using the Pembina Trail from the Twin Cities to Winnipeg used his tree grove as camp sites for the night. Thus the city became know as Erhard. Early days farming and woodcutting were Erhard's major industries. The railroad took the wood to prairie lands in North Dakota. The old school in Erhard was one mile west of town and operated as a one room school house from 1877 to 1970. The building has been moved and is now Erhard City Hall. Schools: Erhard has busing available to the Pelican Rapids School District. |

Maplewood Lutheran Church and Tunseth Lutheran Church. Points of Interest: Each 4th of July Erhard celebrates with "Erhard Day". The celebration includes a parade and other Erhard City Park Festivities. It drawn not only people from the Erhard community but from surrounding communities as well.
Maplewood State Park is located just east
of Erhard. Enjoy camping, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, cross
country skiing and snowmobiling. There is a range of all season outdoor
fun for tourists, residents of Erhard and surrounding communities. |
