Henning is located on the intersection of State Highway 108 and 210 and County Road 67 in SE Ottertail County. Once known as Peace Prairie, Henning has a strong history in wheat farming and the dairy industry. In the early years, the Northern Pacific and the Soo Line Railroads intersected in Henning. Today Henning considers itself a wonderful place to call home, a small town atmosphere with big city amenities.

Henning Independent School District #545 offers education to K-12 and extracurricular activities. The school motto is "Helping Each Child Succeed".

Henning is surrounded by a few of the "great" lakes in Ottertail County. East Battle Lake, Stuart Lake, West Leaf Lake, Middle Leaf Lake, East Leaf Lake are all within easy driving distance to Henning.

Henning sponsors many yearly events that bring residents together as a community. For over 70 years they have provided enjoyment to Henning and surrounding communities with their Annual Henning Area Festival and Fly In.
