"Prairie Chicken Capital of Minnesota"

Rothsay is located just off Interstate 94 on County 11 on the western edge of Ottertail County. In fact part of Rothsay is in Ottertail County and part of Rothsay is in Wilken County.

Rothsay has been designated "Prairie Chicken Capital of Minnesota". Prairie Chickens fed the Norwegian immigrants that settled Rothsay. The pictured Prairie Chicken Monument is 13' tall and weighs 9000 pounds. It was built by Rothsay residents including Art Fosse who designed it. The grasslands around Rothsay, including the 3000 acre Rothsay Wildlife Management Area, are breeding grounds for the prairie chicken.

Rothsay businesses cover all your needs. Right along I-94 is the Rothsay Truck Stop for gas/convenience/food and the Comfort Zone Inn. Rothsay also offers Pam's Cafe and Rothsay Powerhouse.
